Under His Wings is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization that provides a free 4-hour break (respite) for special needs families six times a year. Individuals with disabilities and their siblings (all ages) are each paired with a “buddy” (volunteer). Together, they enjoy various activities and entertainment while their parents do whatever they want to with their free time!
It takes about 40 to 50 volunteers to make each respite happen. This is the area where your help is needed!
Helping at a respite enables you to provide one-on-one support for typical siblings or those affected by Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, etc. We believe time spent with these families will be a precious mile marker to the volunteer as well as the family!
DISCLAIMER: We require all volunteers to be at least 13 years old, submit a volunteer application from which we’ll also do a background check, agree to abide by our child protection policy and sometimes have a face-to-face interview. In return, volunteers will receive valuable caregiving experiences while having fun with individuals!
